C & C type Cage for Guinea Pigs- how to create one in jhb/pta

G- Piggy c & c cage - building an exercise run/home cheaply and creatively.

I finally got given the info of where to locate the supplies to create a c & c type cage.

Here is the info:

The metal grids and connectors are at The Chinese mart in Crown mines, Johannesburg.

Shop unit C 49. ( the back end of the market).

The specific product code is : ZWD-01# . The grids are white and black and measure 35cm square and costs R28 each. The connectors (of which you need each corner to have are R7 each)

I've explained that people will come in and buy for animals but if they don't quite understand what you are asking for (as its a shelving store) then show them the grid pic in this link:

http://www.crownshelving.com/product.aspx?page=2&category=20&tagid=-1&keywords=&sort=-1&glist=-1#plist

It's towards the bottom.

As seen in my pic attached of the completed nursery (for baby buns & G-piggies) - you can build up. Just ensure you always have blankets on the bottoms as grids will cause injury to critters paws and you can turn the connectors on their side ( as seen in my second pic) to fit ones on top.

They do not come with correx board which is how traditional c & c cages come are but you can get this done at a sign printing place, cut to the size you need.

You would also need to make your own ramp (with sides) and secure it with cable ties. My wooden ramp will be done by tomorrow so I don’t have a pic currently but it is fairly easy to DIY.

Just be careful with dogs & cats as these grids are not the most secure and they wouldn’t keep dogs and cats out, and if you are planning to do one outside just monitor it.
